The story
Faktura started because most invoicing tools are built for other countries. They charge in dollars, they assume you are VAT registered, and they will happily let you send something called a Tax Invoice when you are not legally allowed to.
That last part matters. In South Africa only a VAT-registered vendor may issue a Tax Invoice, and most freelancers are nowhere near the R1 million threshold. So the very first question Faktura asks is whether you are registered, and the whole app changes based on your answer. Registered, and you get a proper Tax Invoice with every field SARS expects. Not registered, and you get a clean Invoice with no VAT anywhere on it.
The rest is the boring stuff done properly: invoice numbers that never skip or repeat, banking details on every invoice because everyone pays by EFT, and a dashboard that answers the only question a freelancer actually has, which is who still owes me money.

- Multi-user accounts with each business fully separated from every other
- VAT-aware invoices that switch between Tax Invoice and Invoice correctly
- Sequential invoice numbering generated inside a transaction so there are never gaps
- PDF invoices emailed straight to clients
- Client management and reusable line items
- Dashboard showing outstanding, overdue first, and what has been invoiced this month
